We redesigned Boutique Florence's website and logo with watering mouths, since the only thing we love more than traveling is traveling to great food and wine (Veneto will forgive us, but Tuscany knows how to spoil people). That's probably why we ended up with a color palette that can be described as "strawberry gelato and chocolate".

Adding a child-theme in wp
You can leave untouched your main theme (main reason: easier to update/fixing bugs) and create a child theme that inherit everything from his parent (in terms of css/js/php/etc...) but with the capability to override every single file or property
/*
Theme Name: Papermoustache
Author URI:  http://www.papermoustache.com
Description: Everything is better with a moustache
Author: Papermoustache
Version: 1.0
Template: Parent theme name
*/
@import url("../parent-theme-name/stylesheet/style.css");
// this must match the exact name and location of the main parent stylesheet
Sliding sidebar
If you want to add a sidebar that follows you while you scroll the page, there is some jQuery lines that can help. Note: use it when you have a small sidebar (content-wise), otherwise some user with smaller screens won't be able to see all the content
<script type="text/javascript">
  $(function() {
    var $sidebar   = $("#sidebar"),
        $window    = $(window),
        offset     = $sidebar.offset(),
        topPadding = 65; // change this value with the desired height

    $window.scroll(function() {
        if ($window.scrollTop() > offset.top) {
            $sidebar.stop().animate({
                marginTop: $window.scrollTop() - offset.top + topPadding
            });
        } else {
            $sidebar.stop().animate({
                marginTop: 0
            });
        }
    });

    });
</script>
